Spain’s Directorate-General of Traffic (DGT) is to reduce the speed limit on certain roads at times when there is likely to be a greater number of cyclists.
Sunday mornings are cited as being an example of when the new rules might be imposed. They would typically apply to popular cycling routes.
Sections that will be subject to the speed limit reduction will be specifically marked to indicate this.
The move comes in response to figures indicating that there has been a rise in the number of collisions involving cyclists.
