71-year-old chases after Sussex bike thief

A 71-year-old member of a charity organisation chased down a bike thief in Sussex and reunited the owner with her bike which had just been taken from outside a bookshop where she was browsing.

The Eastbourne Herald reports that Chris Millen set off in pursuit of the would-be thief when he saw him making off with the bike from outside the Lions’ Bookshop in Hailsham.

The Hailsham Lions member chased him along the High Street to the traffic lights and said afterwards: “He saw me chasing him, but as it was crowded with pedestrians he couldn’t get through.

"So, he dropped the bike on the ground and legged it.

He added: “I still gave chase again, but unfortunately I lost him.”
